I’m not always all that enthused by the works of Zaha Hadid, nor about works that are perched atop an otherwise perfectly beautiful hill. But that first picture caught me right away. Diminutive yet very expressive, there’s something decidedly arresting in its hillside spearing appearance.
Overall I like the building’s sculptural-ness that invites movement within and frames views outward. The cantilevers and that buried nature also makes it quite light in its visual oomph, keeping it from competing with the gorgeous surroundings and letting the landscape do most of the talking.
Overall, those silky and sensual forms enhance the experience of a lookout, exactly as it should. Nice work!
