And now, snow

December 29, 2011

With these waning days of my vacation home the snow did finally come, delightfully covering all, with picturesque white laden trees, chilly temps and sweet winter goodness.  It is even snowing right now as I type… hooray!

It has been a great vacation, one that has sped by quickly, spending time with Dave and Kat, climbing at Coyotes (ah, yes, pinchers and pockets and slopers, oh my!  Sore forearms for days…), seeing James and Kel and great times at home with my parents.

Went to visit the Royal Ontario Museum yesterday, mostly to check out the new addition by Liebeskind but by excellent coincidence they are having an exhibit on the Maya that I also got to check out.  Last time I passed by it was just when the steel was going up for the new addition.  I have seen photos of the completed structure, and I’ve even heard a lecture by Libeskind about it, so I was excited to go and check it out for myself.  Read the rest of this entry ?

Distinct lack of whiteness

December 24, 2011

Well, it certainly appears it shall not be a white christmas here, nor even a very cold one with temps hovering near freezing.  Zut alors!

Notwithstanding, I wish everyone a fabulous holiday season, filled with love, laughter, peacefullness, harmony, joy and fun.  May the new year be delightful for us all.

Travel Interestings

December 17, 2011

Starting my car on friday the odometer read 111111, very amused by that.  255!

Saw an A380 today, being carefully shepherded down the taxiway.  Man that is a big plane.  It certainly didn’t leap into the sky but it didn’t lumber either.

On my LAX to YYZ flight ran into a friend from high school, also coming back for the holidays. I love coincidences like that!

On the drive east the moon had just crested the horizon and looked ginormous and reddish from the earthen glow.  Very beautiful.

“I learned that money can be a lot of things. It can be something that is hoarded, fought over, protected, stolen and withheld. Or it can be like an energy, fueled by the desire, will, creative interest, need to laugh, of large groups of people. And it can be shuffled and pushed around and pooled together to fuel a common interest…”

Complete lack of backbone & leadership

December 12, 2011

I am so disgusted right now, and ashamed.

Whatever happened to rolling up our sleeves and doing what it takes?

When did we start thinking that breaking our word and hiding behind blame and was the hallmark of success and prosperity?

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

“Now, in the end things worked out (and for the better, storywise), but that only happened because of a couple factors: first because [we] trust that the DM’s not being arbitrary for no reason…”
